Media Make Certain Progress but also Regress Regarding Observance of Professional Principles
13.09.11/ For one year, the radio and TV stations as well as the print media, including from the Transnistrian region and TAU Gagauz Yeri, have made certain progress but also regress regarding the observance of professional and ethical principles – as pointed out by the fourth monitoring report developed by the Independent Journalism Center as part of the project “Strengthening Media Capacity to Cover Public Interest Subjects.” The monitoring report that assesses the quality of coverage by 15 media outlets of public interest subjects has concluded the following:

01.07.2011/ Media non-governmental organizations are concerned about the physical aggression of journalist Oleg Brega on July 29th, 2011, during a journalistic investigation held in the premises of the Slavon University of Moldova.

 
Winners of the AICI TV network contest announced

19.07.11/ On 15 July, the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) awarded the production teams of the AICI TV network. Launched in February 2011, the contest aimed to promote quality journalism and to encourage young journalists within the network. The award categories were: the award for best reporter of the network, the award for best cameraman of the network, and the award for best video editor of the network.

 
IJC launched a new issue of the biannual analytical magazine Mass-Media in Moldova
05.07.11/ This magazine includes traditional headings like: Ethics and Professionalism, The Letter of the Law, Media as Business and Regional Press, Experiences, Book Review and other topics of public interest. The articles have been written by well-known journalists and their younger colleagues, as well as lawyers. ”Moldova Faces an Important Obligation: To Ensure Loyal Competition in Broadcast Advertising” ; “The Labyrinth of the Public Broadcaster”; “Print Media: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”; “Children’s Press in the “Hands” of Adults”; “A Foreign Journalist’s Reflections on the Mass Media in Moldova”; “One Hundred Fifty Experiments to Understand Media Manipulation”- these are few titles of articles from the June 2011 magazine issue.

 
Press increasingly interested in audience studies
27.06.11/ 15 journalists representing national and local media outlets, participated in a training program focused on the proper use and understanding of audience research data, organized by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) from June 23 to 25.
