Journalists in Moldova need continuous training in covering topics of public interest
03.02.2012 / Mass Media in Moldova, including in the Transnistrian region and UTA Gagauz-Yeri, need a center for continuous training in order to achieve tangible and constant results on the observance of professional and ethical standards - reveals the 5th monitoring report, issued by the Independent Journalism Center, in the framework of the project "Strengthening the Capacity of Mass Media to Report on Topics of Public Interest". The monitoring report, which evaluates the quality of the coverage of topics of public interest by 15 media institutions, also recommends the following:

 IJC launched a new issue of the biannual analytical magazine Mass-Media in Moldova. This magazine includes traditional headings like: Ethics and Professionalism, The Letter of the Law, Media as Business and Regional Press, Experiences, Book Review and other topics of public interest. The articles have been written by well-known journalists and their younger colleagues, as well as lawyers.

16.12.2011 / On December 15, the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) in partnership with the Moldovan Press Freedom Committee organized the annual press club gala – “10 journalists of the year”.

12.12.11/ Media nongovernmental organisations signal with concern the deterioration of the press freedom, safe conditions for journalists and human rights in the transnistrian region. Thus, on December 11th, 2011, when elections of the leader of self-proclaimed transnistrian republic were organized in Tiraspol, Valentina Ursu, reporter of Radio „Free Europe” from Chisinau Bureau, has been apprehended for three hours in Tiraspol by the local militia.
