Statement on the lawsuit between Publika TV and Jurnal TV

20.05.2013 / The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) and the Association of Independent Press (API) are closely monitoring the lawsuit between Publika TV (Limited Liability Company Stiri Media Grup S.R.L. / Stiri Media TV) and Jurnal TV (Limited Liability Foreign Investment Company Jurnal de Chisinau Plus S.R.L.).

17.05.2013 / On 18 April 2012 Moldova joined the Open Government Partnership, aiming to enhance public access to information, promote transparency in governance, and contribute to combating corruption and to improving citizen participation in government.
 
Memorandum on Press Freedom in Moldova 3 May 2012 – 3 May 2013

10.05.2013 / After approval, in 2010, of the legislative changes governing mass media in Moldova, a fact that the international ranking of press freedom appreciated by changing the status of the media from “not free” to “partly free”, our country had no more significant developments that would have allowed Moldova to join the category of countries with a free press. Moreover, last year there was certain stagnation in ensuring media freedom, and in some areas – even regression. The media continue to face the already traditional problems: gaps in the legal framework that hinder the development and financial sustainability of most media outlets, pressure and intimidation from officials, difficult access to information of public interest, lack of transparency regarding the owners of media outlets, delay in the reform of the public broadcaster, poor professionalism, etc.

 
Press Freedom Days 2013
02.05.13 / On the occasion of launching 2013 edition of Press Freedom Days, media organizations in Moldova are inviting journalists to a meeting of civil society representatives with members of the Parliamentary Commission for Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Mass media.
 
Media NGOs request the Prosecutor Office to prevent any illegal pressure on the media

Dear Mr. Pântea,

On the 11 of April, 2013, the  ”Ziarul de Gardă” newspaper related the story of the author of a journalistic investigation in the article entitled: "prosecutor demands the reporter to disclose his sources of information" , concerning the illegal sale of military equipment from the National Army depot, which was accosted by Chisinau prosecutors in order to reveal the source.
