09.02.2010/ Independent Journalism Center issues the fifth annual report on the situation of the press in Moldova. The annual report of 2009 contains five main chapters which report on the evolutions and trends in the public audiovisual, print and online press, and for the first time includes an analysis of the media in Transnistria region. |

01.02.10/ The Independent Journalism Centre (IJC) launched a new stage of the IREX Media Program in Moldova, on February 1. Thus, IJC will continue to build professional capacity of the regional television stations by organizing training activities for managers, journalists, cameramen and editors. A professional internship program involving placement of Chisinau School of Advanced Journalism graduates at the network stations will be also prepared. The goal of the program is to expand the pool of qualified TV reporters with local news experience and add to station reporting staff. |

21.01.10/ The Broadcasting Coordinating Council (BCC) decided, on January 19, to take the frequencies previously held by Ploaia de Argint out of the contest for use of radio and television frequencies, in order to comply with the injunction issued by the Chisinau Court of Appeal. At the same time, the BCC decided to suspend the broadcast of the radio station, whereas it had decided earlier on October 26, to allow the station to continue its activity until Ploaia de Argint would be assigned a new broadcasting license. |

21.12.09/ Media and human rights NGOs speak out against threats toward Ziarul de Garda (ZdG) following a series of investigations on alleged corruption at the National Railway Company in Chisinau. After publishing in the last issues of ZdG (26 November, 3 and 10 December) three parts of the investigative report The corruption train in Chisinau railway station, a series of phone, electronic and direct threats have been sent to the authors of the investigation and their families, to the entire newspaper’s team, as well as to the sources who offered information to journalists. |
