Journalism center holds new workshops on trafficking prevention (22 April)
IJC @ 10:30 PST, 22/04/05

Two trainings for media professionals were organized by the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) in the framework of the project "New Perspectives for Women" (NPW) in April. TV journalists learned how to cover issues related to the trafficking in human beings, whereas TV engineers and cameramen studied technical aspects of producing such programs. Lead trainers were specialists from Internews-Ukraine, and combined presentations with a variety of hands-on exercises. NPW is a four-year project, which is administered by Winrock International, a US NGO, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). NPW provides training, information and support services to the population segments that run the greatest risk of being trafficked. IJC participates in the implementation of the project awareness-raising component. Along with the workshops, the project includes study trips for print journalists to Ukraine, and production of specialized broadcasts on the issue (IJC).
