Aspects of strategic communication for non-profit organizations were discussed at a two-day workshop organized by the Independent Journalism Center(IJC) for the staff of "New Perspectives for Women" (NPW). Training agenda included sessions on media basics, tools for communicating with the media, and crisis communication. Trainees learned how to write press releases and media advisories, give interviews, organize press conferences and special media events, and how to compile media kits. The training format was a combination of presentations and hands-on exercises. NPW is a four-year project, which is administered by Winrock International, a U.S. NGO, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). NPW provides training, information and support to the population segments that run the greatest risk of being trafficked. IJC participates in the implementation of the project awareness-raising component (IJC). |
