A host of media activities will be organized in the framework of a major anti-trafficking project, which was launched in Moldova in December. "New Perspectives for Women" is administered by Winrock International, an American non-profit organization with a grant from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The program, which will last for four years, is expected to impact over 35,000 women through training, information and support. Four Regional Support Centers (RSC) are expected to play leading roles in achieving these goals. The Independent Journalism Center (IJC) will participate in the implementation of its awareness enhancement component by providing training for journalists and the RSC staff, by assisting in the production of specialized broadcasts, by carrying out extensive media monitoring, and by elaborating a special university course. Other project components include development of employment and business opportunities, victim assistance and support services, effective outreach program, and promotion and strtengthening of linkages. Winrock's activity will complement existing anti-trafficking programs in Moldova. For more information about the project, please visit : http://www.winrock.org.md (IJC). |
